Housing and Homelessness Department - Families at Home/Shelter Plus Care/Housing Court Advocacy Program
Provide stabilization and follow-up services to households served through the Families at Home/Shelter Plus Care/Housing Court Advocacy program. Conduct assessment of stabilization needs and develop a plan to best meet housing and stabilization goals. Maintain regular contact with clients regarding court agreements, repayment plans, court judgments, and all other housing and service delivery needs. Assist clients with applying for eligible benefits and resources. Work with clients to develop stable tenancies, including assisting them with housing search if they are in temporary and/or unstable housing. Provide and contribute to the knowledge of successful outcomes through expanded/refined data collection and analysis using the ETO software system. Work with partnering agencies to ensure that comprehensive, collaborative models and strategies are implemented. Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum of a high school diploma/GED, with one to three years of experience in case management or a related service required. Associate’s degree in Human Services or related field preferred. Must have some experience with and knowledge of homeless and housing issues and housing subsidies. Willingness to conduct home visits in various neighborhoods and accompany clients to neighborhood services required. Must have the ability to work and set appropriate boundaries with clients with various mental health, substance abuse, and domestic violence issues. Strong problem-solving skills required. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Valid driver’s license required. Bilingual skills preferred. Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
