Head Start and Children's Services
Provide training, technical assistance and guidance to parents, staff and interns to ensure that they fully understand and support the goals of the Nutrition Component. Assist the Nutrition Coordinator in planning, directing, monitoring and evaluating the nutrition-related activities of staff in order to achieve and maintain compliance with federal, state and ABCD Head Start and Early Head Start performance standards. Counsel and/or refer parents to services to help them meet the special nutritional needs of their children. Establish, maintain and update a resource library of nutrition-related materials and assist staff in developing similar resources. Plan, monitor and evaluate the daily routine of interns. Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or related field required. Registered Dietitian preferred. Minimum of one to three years of experience in community nutrition, with at least one year of emphasis on the nutritional needs of infants, toddlers and preschool-age children required. Knowledge of area nutrition service agencies and the ability to develop linkages with these resources preferred. Proven ability in developing, implementing and evaluating training programs for individuals with varying abilities and levels of experience required. Must have good computer, communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
