EDUCATION SUPERVISOR
Gertrude E. Townsend Head Start
Plan, develop, and manage the education services at the center. Provide technical assistance and supervision to Head Start education staff. Ensure all education component activities are in accordance with federal, state, and ABCD Head Start guidelines and standards. Ensure all Head Start education staff gain a comprehensive understanding of ABCD Head Start Performance Standards. Assist and supervise teaching staff in providing children with individualized learning experiences to help them develop socially, intellectually, physically, and emotionally in achieving social competency. Develop strategies to involve parents as the main influence in their children’s education and development. Develop local community resources for early childhood education based on identified classroom and community needs. Perform other related duties as required.
Thorough knowledge of early childhood development and curriculum required. Must have demonstrated ability to develop and/or implement training activities for child care educators. Knowledge of the CDA process helpful. Must be EEC “Director I” qualified. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required. Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field required. Must have at least one and a half years of full-time teaching experience in a child care setting. Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, health, socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds.
