YOUTH SERVICES SPECIALIST - ARRA
Community Coordination
Assist youth participants in the development of their Individual Service Strategy. Meet with youth participants on a regular basis to address portfolio assignments. Meet with the worksite supervisor to coordinate educational, career, and life skills goals. Provide feedback on academic skills (writing, reading, and mathematics). Develop techniques for motivating participants to complete assignments. Meet with worksite supervisor regarding the integration of work duties and academics. Attend weekly meetings with the Education and Training Coordinator regarding documentation and statistics of enrollee progress. Responsible for all requests made by the Neighborhood Coordinator regarding weekly reports, final report, and miscellaneous youth concerns. Maintain a weekly log to document youth progress. Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field preferred. Up to twelve months of experience and expertise in urban adult literacy, youth education, and employment programs required. Must have demonstrated ability to supervise teaching and counseling staff and work with both Boston Public Schools and community organizations. Knowledge of assessment techniques and issues, innovated teaching, and career development and counseling mechanisms required. Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
Please note: this position is funded under the American Recovery and Re-investment Act (ARRA) and is temporary through June 30, 2010.
