ADULT EDUCATION TEACHER - NEW CAREERS - ARRA
Education, Training, and Youth Services - LearningWorks
Provide individualized and group instructions to adults in Adult Basic Education (ABE), Adult Secondary Education (ASE), or English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes. Develop materials, curriculum, and resources. Provide periodic academic assessment. Conduct on-going evaluations of learners’ skills and goals, and class progress and projects. Participate in staff and program development activities, including developing and implementing an Individual Professional Development Plan. Coordinate activities with other instructional staff, counselors, and volunteers. Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required. Must have one to three years of teaching experience with adults and/or youth, preferably in ABE, ASE, or ESOL, in a community-based setting. Experience with curriculum design, curriculum development, and assessment and evaluation required. Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
PLEASE NOTE: ARRA POSITIONS ARE FUNDED UNDER THE AMERICAN RECOVERY AND RE-INVESTMENT ACT (ARRA) AND ARE TEMPORARY THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 2010. ALSO, THE POSITIONS ARE IN THE AREAS OF CHILDCARE, ELDERCARE, AND MEDICAL ADMINISTRATION.
